Converging of Alternative Energies and Water Supplies By Lance Winslow
In the United States like all counties in the world we must be concerned with our fresh water supplies and since we are also pushing alternative energies why not combine them say researchers, scientists and academics. Indeed this makes sense and we also need better conservation of our water supplies too.
Like most who study our nations water supplies, I have some ideas for conservation of water too and you, like all citizens of said planet should be interested, as well in ways you can conserve water.
Some have said we need to desalinate water from the ocean and this makes sense too. Of course the coasts are probably not the place to do it, although they need water too. It makes sense to build giant desalination plants in the desert or places where land is cheap and that of course would pay for the building of canals, pipelines and such to get it there.
As one brilliant Texas Inventor put it; Who cares where we do the desalination. And his thoughts about the desalination location is true, who cares where it occurs? Mulholland used vertical "S" pipes and suction to take water up hill right and over the mountains into Los Angeles and if we can do that we can easily build a water delivery system inland from the sea. And as long as the water is flowing up and down hills why not make a little energy along the way too?

We need to kill two birds with one stone and we must solve our fresh water issues now. The longer we wait the worse the problem will be and then it might be crisis mode and cost our nation billions more that should never have been. Consider all this in 2006.
